My Story
I am one of eight
children raised in the Bronx and still reside there till this date.
My love for Salsa Music came at an early age of 9. My parents are a
huge influence in my music career. My father
Julio C. Marchena, a local
Disc Jockey and Percussionist born in NYC from a Dominican Father and
Puerto Rican Mother, passed away January 1st 2004 but before his
passing he wanted me to record my very own album because I was already
singing Coro for the Salsa Band Los Hermanos Colón. I
promised him that one day I would have a deal and fulfill his and my dream
and unfortunately he isn't here today to see me rise but I know from up
above he is cheering me on.
My dad passed at the early age of 48 and it kept me at a standstill but I am
here today not only sharing my story with you all but telling you that
there is a reason for everything. If you've purchased my album
you will hear my dad's voice on the 1st track of my album which I managed to
take from one of his recordings and on the back of my CD I tell him PAPI,
I MADE IT!
My mother Santa Santiago, born in
Ponce, Puerto Rico, to both Puerto Rican parents, was a housewife. She is
my right hand women today, she has made sure I am at all venues and keeps me
informed of all I need to know in order to succeed, I love my mom she is my
heart and soul. My message to everyone who has a dream is NEVER allow
anyone to dictate your future ALWAYS keep your head up but above it
all…
FAMILY FIRST.
