Alter Ego Garlic
Conditioners and Shampoo
For beautiful hair...
Ego IMPAC EGO Treatment with Garlic 500ml – Original… and
still the best. This special cream, rich in peptydes, vitamins, and mineral
salts derived from wheat and garlic, represents an excellent alternative to
hair treatment with animal-based extracts. It is ideal for treated
hair such as bleached, dyed, permed, or
relaxed. It leaves the hair soft and strong.
“With one use, your hair
is soft, manageable and very shiney. The product is on the expensive side
but I don't mind paying for products that actually work. This one does. Do
not be put off by the scent. It is quite mild and your hair will NOT smell
like garlic after using the product....” (Claudia L. Davis,
December 2007) [ MORE...]
Amazon.com's title for the product has “hot oil” in its name
but if you look at the product itself it doesn't say Hot Oil on it. It's
"Nourishing Impac Ego Conditioner with Vitamin A". You don't heat it; it is
used like any other conditioner.
“I contacted you before about the best shampoo and deep
conditioners and you recommended Alter ego, especially the
garlic one. I did order it and just want to thank you for your
quick response and recommendation. I absolutely love this
product! Your website feels like you are a friend in my head, I
love it. So many great products! I too love beauty products,
makeup, shoes, clothes, etc..”

“It might have a picture of garlic but it smells really good!
And it leaves my hair soft, shiny, and easy-to-brush. My new hairdresser
even told me that my hair was very healthy and that I was taking very good
care of it. Imagine, after all the processing and coloring... Healthy Hair!
” —Liliana, Bronx NY 2008
After shampooing, apply the treatment all over the hair, wait 10 or
15 minutes, then rinse well with water and style as usual.

Alter Ego Garlic Mask + Vitamin A with Pump
Crema al Ajo
The same Alter Ego Conditioner, this time called Garlic Mask
, is now
available with a pump
dispenser! Good news because it keeps water
and germs out of the conditioner when you use it in the shower so it won't
get diluted, contaminated, or moldy. All conditioners should have a pump
like this! (In the salon, many Dominican stylists use a spatula or a sterile
to take conditioner from the jar.) Some

Dear Aleida, I bought the
Alter Ego Coconut Conditioning Mask
at the recommendation of a friend, when my local beauty store ran out of my
regular deep conditioner. I was reluctant to try anything new, as my hair
has been through some heavy treatments. I have both a Japanese thermal
conditioning (straightening) and bleach. But I gave it a try. The
first thing you notice is that it smells amazing. You only have to leave it
on for a few minutes (not 10 or 20, like some conditioners), and even
heavily processed hair comes out smooth, brushable, and shiny. The same
people who'd been strongly reminding me how badly I needed a trim were
suddenly complimenting my hair. I said, “Well, thank you, but I know
I really need to cut the ends.” And they said, “You don't even
notice it. Your hair looks great!”

Botanikare Day Therapy Energizing Shampoo (new)
Alter Ego Italy says,
“Botanikare Day Therapy is the new professional range that addresses
hair and scalp wellness, it has been
specifically formulated to counter and treat the most common disorders. All
the formulations are free from: paraben, sulphates (SLES and SLS),
colorants, silicones, allergens phthalates.”
This shampoo appeared on many Amazon.com pages in late 2013, replacing the
highly regarded neQual Energizing shampoo. On the page where
I ordered it all the reviews are still for the neQual shampoo, not the
Botanikare; as yet the Botanikare line has no reviews (the reviews on
Amazon's Botanikare pages are still for the discontinued neQual shampoo
which Botanikare replaces). However, I have been using it myself and notice
no difference in the results, although the aroma and consistency are
different. Both shampoos are very good and when used as directed really
do reduce hair loss.

In other words, it is one part
of the anti-hair-loss treatment. The
other part is the leave-in hair lotion or “drops”. Alter Ego
has long offered a wide variety of these (next section)
, such as the
Energizing Hair Lotion
, which is still included in the Hair Loss

two new Botanikare lotions: the Botanikare
Day Therapy Energizing Superactive Lotion
for fragile scalp and thinning
hair (single-application ampoules), and

Alter Ego hair lotions
Let's look at two of the Alter Ego “drops” (lotions). These are
to be applied in small quantities after shampooing and conditioning,
massaged gently into the scalp, and left in the hair, not rinsed out.
Honestly, it's impossible to find out what exactly the differences are among
these lotions. Alter Ego does not provide explicit guidelines for which one
is for which type of hair with which type of problem,
but instead uses vague adjectives like revitalizing,
restructurizing, and so on. The only specific information offered is
that the neQual Energizing Lotion and Curativ Cren are for fine and
weak hair, and the Herb Ego Fresca is for limp and damaged hair.
Nevertheless the reviews for all of them say that they stop hair loss and
breakage and promote hair growth. Obviously results can vary from person to
person, but the best way to choose among them is read the reviews of each
one to find the one with the best reviews from people who have hair like
yours with problems like yours.
Let's start with the neQual
Intensive Energizing Hair Lotion... “The synergic action of the
Herbal and Seaweed extracts in its formula helps rebalance and purify the
scalp. The nourishing and energizing properties of its selected active
principles Soya and Wheat Proteins help nourish the hair bulb and increase
the oxygen intake.
Intensive treatment ideal for weak and fine hair. May cause skin
redness.” Click here

The Revitalizing Lotion and the Energizing Lotion are very similar, but the

Revitalizing Lotion is for all types of hair. Both of them leave your scalp
with a tingly feeling for a few minutes.
